Formwork / Foundations explores what happens when preparation becomes a performance itself. Combining installation and activation, the project examines the relationship between bodies, materials, and space by shifting attention away from the finished product and toward the conditions that make it possible.
At its center is a modular, winged platform that audiences can move around and through, encountering both the structure and performer from multiple perspectives. During the activation, a solo performer engages in cycles of warming up, changing clothes, and preparing to move—actions that suggest the beginning of a performance without ever fully arriving there.
Drawing on references to classical ballet and contemporary movement systems, the work transforms over time through choreographic traces, repositioned objects, and repeated actions. By foregrounding process, repetition, and adaptation, Formwork / Foundations reframes preparation as the main event and positions architecture and performance as continually assembled, negotiated, and reimagined.
